MEET JAY

Jay Michael Rivera is a high school English teacher living and working in Stockton, California. He is a former newspaper reporter, columnist, and editor. He is presently enrolled in the online certificate program in novel writing through Stanford University.

From the Author:

If the microscopic crew from the 60s sci-fi film “Fantastic Voyage” could explore the folds of my brain, I’m certain there would be a well-lit, caffeinated section where minions stuff colorful, plastic word cutouts into pneumatic tubes.

It seems my writer's mind is always on and churning out one word after another, whether I’m working on a communications plan, press release, blurb or tweet. And when my hands are away from the keyboard, I’m persuading an assignment editor to cover an event, restructuring sentences with promising young interns or explaining a senate bill with a live radio host.

Jay describes himself as an "Erstwhile communications professional turned high school English teacher with newsprint-stained hands; Dad, Army vet, writer, gardener, french press devotee, Scandanavian crime fiction lover, lifelong learner, dabbler, and fluent in self deprecating humor and irony."
